Three people have been arrested following the discovery of thousands of dollars worth of prescription drugs. Over 200 Oxycontin pills were discovered in a vehicle during a traffic stop, and among the three people arrested was a 15-year-old from Detroit.
Oxycontin is an opium-based painkiller, which is very powerful and is administered to patients in intense pain such as cancer patients. However, the drug is also abused because of its ability to give users a high and over recent years has become an area of serious concern for authorities in most states.
Both oxycontin pills of varying strengths and cash were found in the vehicle when officers from the Clark County Sheriffs Department stopped the vehicle last week. The deputy from the department was suspicious when he saw people shuffling around in the vehicle, and then spotted a passenger that seemed to be unconscious.
One of the suspects later admitted that the drugs had been picked up in Detroit, and that they were planning to sell some on Kentucky and then move on to Powell County to sell more.
