A pharmacy technician has been charged along with her husband for the theft and sale of a range of narcotic prescription drugs, including the opium based painkiller Oxycontin. The 21-year-old technician was charged along with her 23-year-old husband after admitting to taking the drugs.
Christina Pate and her husband Daniel were charged last month. The charges were unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Oxycontin was just one of the powerful prescription drugs that were taken from the pharmacy in order to be sold on the streets.
Speaking about the incident a spokesperson for the St. Clair County Sheriffs Office stated: 'We learned about a large-scale pill distribution working in the area after overhearing two individuals talking about it. The course of our investigation led us to the Pates.'
The stolen drugs were found at the couples home after agents from the drugs unit obtained a warrant to search the premises, and where a number of drugs including Oxycontin were discovered.
