The Food and Drugs Administration has been sending out warnings to consumers in relation to the purchase of drugs and medications from online sources, specifically through websites that have been linked to a Canadian company.
The FDA states that tests have been carried out that show that fake versions of drugs such as Lipitor are being sold through these companies, and consumers purchasing from these websites are putting their health in danger.
Several of the sites mentioned in the warnings that have come from the FDA include RxNorth.com, Canadiandrugstore.com and Rxbyfax.com. The items ordered via the sites are then dispensed by a company called Mediplan Global Health.
FDA officials state that some of the prescriptions being filled have been intercepted and tested, and the results of the tests have shown that many of the medications are fake. However, a spokesperson for Mediplan Global Health denies the accusations and says that companies like his are being targeted by authorities.
