One of the manufacturers approved for the provision of this seasons influenza vaccines has started shipping the vaccines to the US market. Around 50 million doses are to be shipped over for this season, and the manufacturing giant Sanofi Pasteur has already started the process.
Around half of the global influenza vaccines market is expected to be covered by Sanofi Pasteur, which has been supplying this vaccine to the industry for many years. With the first shipment, providers can start to schedule in vaccinations for the coming season.
Sanofi tends to deliver its flu vaccines in a split delivery format, which helps to ensure that providers receive a proportion of the vaccines due to them by a certain date, with the remainder to follow, rather than some providers receiving all of theirs by a certain date and others receiving none.
Providers are expected to receive their partial delivery by the end of this month, with the remainder to follow on in subsequent deliveries that will be arranged.
