Man Confesses To Oxycontin Theft

Added September 12th, 2006

A man from Lenoir City has confessed to the theft of Oxycontin tablets during a robbery at a pharmacy, according Greene County Sheriff, Steve Burns. The man apparently confessed to detectives that he carried out the robbery on August 5th, when around 1,000 Oxycontin tablets were taken from the Mosheim Pharmacy.

Forty-three year-old Buddy Lee Wall is said to have confessed to detectives at the Knox County Jail. Wall was already being held at the jail on other unrelated charges, as he had not been charged with this crime at that time.

Oxycontin is a powerful prescription painkiller that is derived from opium, and over recent years has been at the center of concern due to levels of abuse, and has also been at the center of a large number of pharmacy robberies all over the country.

After carrying out the robbery, Wall is said to have escaped with nearly 1,000 tablets after demanding all the Oxycontin tablets that there were from the pharmacist.
