In the latest in a string of robberies on pharmacies, a man wearing a disguise of simply bandages entered a pharmacy in Tempe and demanded Oxycontin pills. These drugs are very powerful painkillers derived from opium, and have become an increased concern due to their abuse by both patients and in relation to illegal distribution on the streets.
This latest robbery was the sixth in the same area, and it is believed that the same man carried out all of the robberies. He always uses bandages to disguise his face, and has also been known to wear them on his hands. So far he has netted over 2,000 Oxycontin pills according to reports.
The latest robbery was at a Walgreens drugstore, where the bandaged offender passed a handwritten note to the pharmacist demanding the pills and threatening to use a gun if they were not handed over. He got away with 16 bottles of the medication.
Police have appealed for any information from members of the public with regards to the robber. He has been described as being of Hispanic appearance with short, dark hair, of a medium to stocky build, and between 5 7 and 5 10.
