Teenager Found To Have Stolen Prescription Drugs From Hospital

Added September 6th, 2005

The teenaged son of a hospital vice president has been charged with stealing prescription medication from the hospital after he allegedly got the relevant password and security information from a staff member. Sixteen-year-old Thomas Bradshaw, Jr. took Oxycontin pills and methadone among other prescription medications. He was, at the time, working at the hospital as a volunteer.

His father, Thomas Bradshaw, Sr. who is the vice president of the hospital stated that the reason his son took the drugs was because he had received threats on his life and safety in the event that he did not get these drug supplies. He stated: "His life was threatened and the lives of his family, and that's why he did what he did."

The drugs were kept in computerized cabinets located on patient floors, and it is alleged that the boy took security details from a staff member in order to gain access and get his hands on the drugs. Upon discovering the theft, hospital staff immediately contacted the relevant authorities.
