A man that robbed a city drug store at gunpoint in the Parnassus area is being sought by police. The man committed the robbery earlier this week, and got away with Oxycontin tablets, a powerful painkiller that is derived from opium and has become a major concern over recent years because of levels of abuse on the streets.
The man walked into the CVS store on Industrial Boulevard and threatened staff with a black revolver. He demanded Oxycontin from the staff, and was given an unknown number of pills by a female staff member. He then escaped from the store on foot.
The man was described as a white man, about 25 years old, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build. Police mentioned that he may also have a mole on the left side of his face. One officer said that the description fit that of a man that robbed the same store earlier in the year.
Oxycontin is a drug that is known as hillbilly heroin and levels of abuse of this drug have rocketed over recent years. The number of drug store robberies in connection with this drug have also soared.
