Over 200 Arrests Made In State-Wide Drugs Raid

A carefully planned state-wide drugs raid carried out by Michigan state police has resulted in nearly 250 arrests and the seizure of a wide range of illegal drugs, including prescription narcotics and steroid pills.

The coordinated drug raid also resulted in the seizure of illegal class-A drugs such as heroin, ecstasy and cocaine. In addition to this, cash, vehicles, firearms, and other contraband were seized.

Twenty-five children were also found to be living with drug users, sellers, and dealers when police carried out the raids. The raids are conducted on an annual basis in the area, and this is in memory of a police officer that was shot and killed in a drug related case in 1988.

Among the drugs seized were prescription drugs, which have become a major cause of concern in this and other states due to the level of abuse and the related crimes such as drugstore robberies that are resulting from the popularity of such drugs.
