An arrest has been made on a man suspected of being involved in prescription robberies at two CVS pharmacies. The arrest was made earlier this week after witnesses to one of the robberies identified the man. He was placed in Hamilton County Jail after being arrested in his home, and has now been charged with armed robbery.
Police were told by employees that the man had walked into the pharmacy, approached the counter, and told staff that he had a gun before demanding methadone, and the powerful prescription drug Oxycontin. He then ran out of the shop taking the drugs with him.
Police confirmed that upon searching the suspects home evidence was found, and also added that he was being investigated for playing a part in other similar robberies in Marion County. A tip was received at the County Sheriffs office, and this is what led the authorities to him.
Oxycontin is a prescription medication that is derived from opium, and over recent years has become widely abused as well as being one of the main reasons behind the majority of pharmacy robberies
