A man that has been suspected of drug thefts at a number of pharmacies has been charged with robberies at drug stores in Westfield and Camel. The Indianapolis man has been implicated in a number of robberies involving the theft of prescription drugs such as Oxycontin.
The Hamilton County prosecutor stated: "This was law enforcement at its best." She was speaking of the police efforts to get the man, Timothy Shockley, off the streets. A police spokesperson added: "Every one of these agencies just kind of checked their badges at the door and started working this thing. Their only objective was to get this guy off the street before he hurt somebody."
Twenty-seven-year-old Shockley was arrested early this week. He would go into pharmacies and hand over a note stating that he was armed and demanding drugs, including Oxycontin.
Zionsville Police Chief Jim Wampler stated: "He did it because he has a heroin and methadone habit that he needs to support. He's been on methadone and heroin for three or four years. So, he was using some of it and selling some of it to support his habit."
