Police in Westfield are on the lookout for a man who allegedly took drugs at gunpoint at a CVS drugstore in the area. Officers from the Westfield Police Department were called to the store at around 10:30 a.m. after the man produced a gun and demanded narcotics from a drugstore employee.
The man, who was wearing a black leather coat, jeans, and a hat, is said to have approached the counter and then proceeded to pass a note to the employee. The note stated that he had a gun and that he wanted Oxycontin and methadone.
Although the employee proceeded to comply with the mans request the robber reportedly pulled back his coat and revealed a semi automatic handgun. The man told the technician to keep it quiet, and once the technician had handed over the drugs the man left the store.
Oxycontin is a painkiller derived from opium and is the center of concern in states all over the country because of the increased abuse of the drug on the streets and among the teenage population.
